Maserati Brings GranTurismo and GranCabrio Production Back to Historic Modena Plant

Modena, Italy – Modena, the beating heart of Maserati and the pearl of Motor Valley, is set to welcome back two iconic models: the Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio. Starting in Q4 2025, these symbols of Italian elegance and performance will once again be produced at the historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s 100-year legacy.

A Return to Roots

For over 80 years, Modena has been the home of Maserati, and the return of GranTurismo and GranCabrio production reaffirms the brand’s deep connection to Motor Valley. These models, epitomes of luxury, design, and performance, will be crafted at one of Italy’s most advanced manufacturing facilities, known for its cutting-edge technology and skilled workforce.

“Bringing the GranTurismo and GranCabrio back to Modena is a proud and strategic decision that combines our industrial heritage with the capabilities of the future,” said Santo Ficili, Maserati CEO. “We are strengthening our roots while offering the flexibility and innovation our customers expect.”

The Modena Plant: A Hub of Innovation

The Modena plant is a flagship for Maserati’s production, renowned for building the MC20 super sports car, MC20 Cielo convertible, and the new GT2 Stradale. These models are powered by the iconic V6 Nettuno engine, a Maserati-exclusive innovation featuring patented Twin Combustion (MTC) technology derived from Formula 1. The GT2 Stradale, with 631 hp, is the most powerful road-legal Maserati with an internal combustion engine, balancing track-ready performance with everyday comfort.

The plant’s flexibility is further showcased by the new Officine Fuoriserie Maserati, an exclusive customization space where customers can create bespoke vehicles, supported by an innovative paint line.

GranTurismo and GranCabrio: Italian Luxury Redefined

Unveiled in 2022 and 2024, respectively, the new GranTurismo and GranCabrio embody Maserati’s “Italian-style granturismo” spirit. These models blend sports car performance with long-distance comfort, offering both powerful V6 petrol engines and 100% electric Folgore variants. Since their debut in 2007, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio have been global benchmarks for luxury and design, with over 40,000 units sold worldwide by 2019.

The return of their production to Modena coincides with the “Year of the Trident” celebrations, marking the 100th anniversary of Maserati’s iconic logo, first seen on the 1926 Tipo 26 that won its class at the Targa Florio.

A Vision for the Future

By centralizing production in Modena, Maserati reinforces its commitment to the local community and its role as a luxury hub within the Stellantis Group. The plant’s multi-energy platforms enable the production of all GranTurismo and GranCabrio variants on a single line, ensuring the highest standards of quality and customization.

Maserati’s strategic vision remains clear: to build innovative, responsible, and proudly Italian cars that redefine luxury mobility. As part of the Stellantis “Dare Forward 2030” plan, Maserati continues to take Italian excellence to the world.
