2024 Lexus ES

The Lexus ES, known as the top-selling sedan in the Lexus lineup, undergoes minor updates for the 2024 model year. These include the introduction of a new Technology Package and standard 18-inch wheels with Vapor Chrome finish for the Ultra Luxury grade. With its versatility, the 2024 ES caters to a range of lifestyles, offering three powerful engine options, all-wheel drive capability, and two F SPORT models.

The arrival of the new 2024 ES in dealerships is expected in the summer of 2023.

Underpinning the Lexus ES is the Global Architecture-K (GA-K) platform, renowned for its exceptional rigidity and constructed using various grades of high-strength steel. Laser Screw Welding, a construction method shared with the LS sedan and RZ battery-electric vehicle, ensures a robust structure. The front-end stiffness is enhanced by a strut tower brace, multiple reinforcement panels, and radiator support braces.

The suspension is meticulously tuned to deliver optimal responsiveness for the chassis. The front suspension incorporates a strut angle that aligns at the ideal position to improve ride quality. Dynamic Control Shocks with a non-overlapping auxiliary valve enable swift response to even the slightest movements. The rear suspension utilizes a trailing arm and a multilink setup, benefiting from the agility provided by the Dynamic Control Shocks. The mounting point of the trailing arm is positioned higher, while larger bushings aid in absorbing road irregularities. Additionally, wider spacing of the stabilizer bushing mounts contributes to a reduction in overall roll.

Powering the ES 350 is a 3.5-liter V6 engine designed to deliver responsive acceleration and impressive efficiency. The engine features the D-4S fuel injection system, which combines high-pressure injectors for direct injection into the combustion chamber and a low-pressure system for fuel delivery to the intake ports. With Variable Valve Timing-intelligence Wide (VVT-iW) for the intake valves, the engine can operate on the traditional Otto cycle during sporty driving or switch to the more efficient Atkinson cycle when power demand is lower.

The 3.5-liter V6 produces 302 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 267 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm. It achieves an EPA-estimated MPG rating of 22/32/26 (city/highway/combined). To complement the power of the updated V6, an 8-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission is employed.

The Lexus ES 250 AWD features torque distribution to all four wheels, allowing the 2.5-liter L4 engine to tackle low-traction conditions, providing better acceleration with reduced tire slip. Dynamic Torque Control AWD ensures effective traction in inclement weather while minimizing the typical fuel economy impact of all-wheel drive. The system can direct up to 50 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels when responding to acceleration or front-wheel slippage. When AWD is unnecessary, the electromagnetic controlled coupling disengages the propeller shaft, prioritizing fuel efficiency. The re-engagement of AWD is instantaneous when needed, without any noticeable effect on the driver or passengers.

The ES 300h combines a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gas engine running on the Atkinson cycle with a smaller, more power-dense electric motor and a hybrid transaxle. This configuration results in a combined total system horsepower of 215 and an EPA-estimated MPG rating of 43/44/44 (city/highway/combined). A lithium-ion battery is positioned beneath the back seat, optimizing trunk space and improving front-to-rear weight distribution for enhanced handling.

The ES 300h features a hybrid control system that provides a linear acceleration feel by closely aligning engine speed with vehicle speed. Engaging the Sport drive mode enhances acceleration by boosting torque at lower speeds, and paddle shifters offer the option to navigate through six simulated gears for precise control.

For those seeking a more exhilarating driving experience, the F SPORT Design is available on all three powertrain options (ES 350, ES 250 AWD, and ES 300h). It includes F SPORT 19-inch split five-spoke alloy wheels with a Gloss Black finish, F SPORT exterior styling with a unique front bumper, grille surround, and rear spoiler. The F SPORT Design also features standard Intuitive Parking Assist, with additional available features such as a Mark Levinson sound system, power rear sunshade, panorama roof, triple beam LED headlamps, and power trunk with a kick sensor.

Furthermore, the F SPORT Handling grade, available for the ES 350 and ES 300h, elevates the driving experience and sportiness of the Lexus ES. Building upon the exterior design of the ES F SPORT Design grade, the F SPORT Handling grade comes standard with Sport+ and Custom Drive modes, Intuitive Parking Assist, F SPORT-tuned Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), heated F SPORT steering wheel, Hadori aluminum trim, aluminum pedals, and black headliner.

Inside the cabin, the ES F SPORT Handling offers additional options for customization, including the available Mark Levinson 17-speaker, 1,800-watt PurePlay Surround Sound system and power rear sunshade. Exterior options for the F SPORT Handling grade include premium triple-beam LED headlamps and power trunk with a kick sensor.

Elegant and Captivating Design

The 2024 ES embodies a captivating presence with its dynamic stance and sleek, coupe-like silhouette inspired by the flagship LS. Leading the front end is the prominent Lexus Signature Grille, accompanied by striking Bi-LED headlamps. All models come standard with a power tilt-slide moonroof, and there is an option for an available panorama glass roof with a unique outer-sliding design that creates a seamless appearance and allows abundant natural light to fill the cabin.

The exterior design of the 2024 ES is completed by a range of wheel options that add a touch of sophistication. The base model features standard 17-inch wheels with twin v-spoke formations, Dark Metallic, and Machined finish for a sporty impression. The Base with Premium Package and Luxury trims offer a larger 18-inch wheel with a split 10-spoke design and a two-tone Dark machined finish. New for this model year, the Luxury and Ultra Luxury trims offer an 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheel with Vapor Chrome finish, specifically designed for noise reduction. The ES F SPORT models boast exclusive 19-inch split five-spoke alloy wheels with a Gloss Black finish that enhances the sporty exterior aesthetic.

The 2024 ES presents a diverse range of exterior colors, including Eminent White Pearl, Iridium, Cloudburst Gray, Obsidian, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Moonbeam Beige Metallic, Sunlit Green, and Nightfall Mica. The F SPORT models offer two exclusive colors—Ultra White and Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0—which are only available on the F SPORT Design and F SPORT Handling trims, with an additional charge.

Spacious and Luxurious Cabin

In true Lexus fashion, the 2024 ES combines a driver-centric cockpit with spacious and comfortable areas for passengers. The interior design showcases a streamlined instrument panel that seamlessly integrates with the cabin, featuring the Lexus Interface displayed on a standard eight-inch touchscreen.

For the 2024 model, a Technology Package is available across all Base, Luxury, F SPORT Design, and F SPORT Handling models. This package includes a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen with the Lexus Interface, a Head-Up Display, and SmartAccess Card Key for added convenience.

Lexus ES owners can select from a range of interior color options that reflect refined craftsmanship and luxury. The base ES models come with NuLuxe®-trim options in Palomino, Acorn, and Black interiors with Striated Black film. By adding the Premium package, ES base models offer Macadamia NuLuxe-trimmed interiors with a choice of Ash Bamboo, Open-Pore Brown Walnut, or Open-Pore Black trim. Luxury and Ultra Luxury models provide semi-aniline leather-trim options in Palomino, Macadamia, Acorn, and Black, along with a choice of Open-Pore Black, Open-Pore Brown Walnut, or Ash Bamboo trim.

Both F SPORT trims build upon the Premium Package options. F SPORT Design customers can choose between Palomino NuLuxe-trimmed interiors with Open-Pore Brown Walnut trim or Black NuLuxe-trimmed interiors with Open-Pore Black trim. F SPORT Handling offers NuLuxe-trimmed interiors in Black or two exclusive F SPORT Handling colors, Circuit Red and White, all of which are paired exclusively with Hadori Aluminum trim.

Lexus Interface and Connected Services

The 2024 ES comes equipped with Lexus Interface, offering enhanced connectivity and convenience features, including Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.

Users can interact with the system using intuitive touch and voice activation controls. With the active Drive Connect three-year trial, drivers and passengers have access to Intelligent Assistant, Cloud Navigation, and Destination Assist.
